It can change back so quick

It is crazy how quick I can put weight back on. I went about 3-4 days straight of not eating on diet and not exercizing just to rehab my IT band and I was up about 10 lbs last evening from about a week and a half ago. It was an evening weigh-in when I usually weigh in at night but regardless that is sad. I am going hard from here on out. I want to be the best person I can be not only for myself but my family. I know that most of it is water weight from all of the sodium but the fact of the matter is I slacked off!

Winner of Round 1 Dietbet

I won the first round of the dietbet. I am so proud of myself. This dietbet is exactly what I needed to push myself to get healthy. Not only for this time but for my lifetime. I need to take care of what was given to me. We are on day 2 of round #2 of the dietbet and since I lost so much weight in the first round I only have to lose 2.6lbs to make the goal for this next round. I am kind of excited to see how much money I am going to win also from round #1. The cool thing about this group of people on the dietbet is each and every person is cheering eachother on to get healthy. You would think that with money involved people would want to win for the prize but it is a little community where people are there to care about and for each other. I have met and talked to several people that motivate me and push me to do more every day. I am down to 297.2 lbs and have lost a total of 38.6 so far. My goal is to get down to at least 220 lbs but it all depends on how 220 is on my frame.

Wanna know what is extra cool? This morning while I was at work I was walking around doing some things that I do every morning. One of my coworkers stopped me and said "you are losing weight aren't you." This is the first person that has said anything so far. Dang it feels good to know that others are starting to notice the difference. I can't wait until I am down even more weight and see someone that I have not seen for a long time. That will be so cool.

Thanks for all of you guys that have followed and helped me out throughout this process by encouragement and support. It has certainly helped me push harder and harder each day.

Put your fork down between bites

I have always devoured all of my food so quick that I almost don't even taste it. This has gotten me into trouble because I used to shovel it into my face so quick that I would get so sick and always eat way too much food. I have found that if I put my fork down in between bites I chew my food slower and enjoy the food. In turn, my stomach can tell me when it is full rather and just filling it way more than I should. If it is something I eat with my hands I have been making a concious effort to put the food down inbetween bites as well. I don't pick the food back up until I have completely chewed the food and swallowed. I read somewhere that most of us can eat a meal in 10 minutes, yet it takes our stomachs at least 20 minutes after we're done eating to signal our brains that we're no longer hungry. When we slow down we give our stomach just enough time to catch up with our brain, which in turn helps us eat less. So, next time you eat try it and see how it works out for you because it certainly works for me.

Shayloss Dietbet

One of the things that motivated me to start getting back on track as funny as it sounds is money. I watch this youtube channel called the Shaytards. You may have heard of them before or possibly even seen them.

Well the Dad of the family lost over 100 lbs and decided to put on a Shaytober to get everyone healthy. He also signed up for a dietbet. If you have not heard of dietbet I would definately recommend checking it out. It is a form of competition where everyone puts in a certain amount of money. In this competition it was $30. The way it works is if you lose 4% of your body weight in 28 days you make your money back plus everyone that made the goal splits the rest of the money between themselves. How cool is that? I guess on average people are almost doubling their money is what I have heard. How cool is that! After this dietbet I will probably take the money I get back and earn and put it right back into another dietbet. It has been great motivation this past month.

Back about 2 weeks ago I weighed in at a whopping 335.8 lbs. I have bever been this big in my life. When I saw that number it just about killed me that I was doing that to myself and making a terrible example for my son. To date, which is 22 days later, I have lost a total of 21.6 lbs. Got a long ways to go and I am going to do it.

Check out this video, it will tell you all about the dietbet way better than I ever could. ENJOY!

WHY

THESE PAST 2-3 WEEKS I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH MY LIFECHANGE AND MY DIET TO GETTING MY LIFE BACK. IT SEEMS SO EASY THAT I SHOULD JUST BE ABLE TO DO IT EASY BUT IT ISNT. I HAVE LIVED LIKE THIS MY WHOLE LIFE AND IT IS A HABIT THAT IS HARD TO BREAK BUT I CAN AND I WILL DO IT. IT MAY TAKE A WHILE BUT I CAN. THE FUNNY THING ABOUT FAILING IS THAT I KNOW AND MY BODY KNOWS THAT I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER WHEN I AM EATING HEALTHY AND WORKING OUT. I HAVE THE MOTIVATION TO GET HEALTHY BUT I MAY HAVE SOME SKIP UPS ALONG THE WAY. ITS HOW I HANDLE THESE IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT.

Crappy Weekend Diet

To be absolutely honest the food I ate this past weekend was straight crap! I don't know why I do this. I need to remind myself that getting myself in the position that I am in with my weight didnt happen in a couple of weeks, it took years. It is going to take time get to where I want to be and it is going to be baby steps. I have the will power and I will do this!

How I spend my time

The hour or so spent
in the gym is important...
But the key to results is
how you spend the other 23!

How to shop healthy!

I was reading website yesterday while at work about good healthy things to buy at the grocery store. Usually when I go I have a hard time deciding what to purchase and it is always just what I see that sounds good. There was a line on that website that I loved. It said something to the effect of  "stay on the perimeter of the grocery store" that is where all of the healthy stuff is to eat. I had never thought of it that way in the past. Of course there are some things that are healthy on the inside isles but it is safe to stay on the outside. When I went to grab a couple things at Harmons Grocery store yesterday I tried this out other than salad dressing and it worked very well. I plan to use this plan as much as I can from now on.

here is a little diagram of what I found yesterday!

I DONT!

I was reading Shaileen's Aunts blog and I learned somthing so simple but so effective at the same time. You can find her blog here. She was saying how sometimes when we are brought to foods that we are not going to eat because of our new lift change to be healthy we say that WE CAN'T eat it. She was saying that it is a horrible way to look at it. When I am placed with a thing that I can't do sometimes it drives me to do it anyways. They way that we need to think is that I DON'T from now on. I DON'T do it because I am living a healthy life. I think this little mind change can and will make a big difference in my life. I have not had soda in almost 5 years and this is the way I have looked at it with soda. I can't wait to say that it has been 5 years of good healthy eating and for the rest of my life as well!

Resolving Work Cravings

A lot of times through out the work day I either do not eat so I overeat later, or I snack on too much CRAP! I made the decision that I wanted a fruit basket at my desk so I could snack throughout the day but on good stuff. I got this cool  basket from target for only $8 and then bought a bunch of fruit. I hope this helps the cravings I get. I think it will.
I found this quote today on instagram and I need to live by it...

Best workout so far!

Tonight I kicked my butt. I went to the gym around 8ish pm and immediately got on the elliptical. My legs felt real good today and could have gone longer but I had the intensity too high at the end so my heart was racing! I put in 35 minutes on the elliptical, about 3.8 miles and 705 calories! I then went and jumped on the stationary bike and rode 7.5 miles in just 25 minutes approx and that included a cool down just like on the elliptical. I feel great tonight and as I lie here in bed I can't stop thinking how proud I am of the work I have put in! I know that this is going to be a long journey and a lifetime of change and commitment but I can and will do it! As for my diet today I did pretty good. I forgot to get up and eat breakfast but for lunch I got a subway sandwich with no cheese and for dinner I had 3 eggs, toast with homeade strawberry jelly and a cup of canteloupe.

Uh Oh, Weekend at the Condo!

This past weekend we went up with my side of the family to a condo in Eden UT that is called the Wolf Creek resort. We had a blast but it had some negative results on my weight loss journey. The main problem is the family planned the meals and everything was junk. That is my fault as well not to be proactive and plan what I was going to eat up there. I did put some lbs back on but I am still down a total of 3 lbs. The good news is I did have some opportunities to get off of my butt and move. Saturday morning we went golfing, walked around a festival in Ogden and played some intense raquetball as well. On Sunday morning we got up and went on a hike also. I look forward to getting back on track with my diet and getting some miles in on the treadmill/elliptical also.
